what do you need to become a bartender in Texas first things first you don't actually need a bartending license to work in Texas once you're 18 you can legally serve alcohol but many employers will ask for TABC certification what's TABC it stands for the Texas alcoholic beverage commission and the certification trains you on responsible alcohol service to get TABC certified you got to be at least 18 years old and guess what it only takes about 2 hours to complete the TABC certification test plus no penalties if you need a redo your certification it's valid for 2 years after that you'll need to take the course and pass the exam again but once last thing as of 2024 if you're handling food you'll need a food handler license too you've got 60 days from starting the job to get that sorted so grab your Shaker and let's get certified
